4 Ways to Increase Metabolism and Lose Weight

What is Metabolism?

Metabolism is simply just a chemical process within our bodies where substances are broken down to produce energy. This is why you get energy after having a meal. Having a high metabolic rate means that your body is using more energy (I.e. using more calories even while resting). High metabolism means it is easier for your body to maintain weight or lose weight. Here are the ways to increase metabolism and lose weight:

  • Eat a Certain Number of Calories

    To lose weight, you should count the caloric intake you have every day. Our body can only burn so much calories in a day, which means that if you eat more than the needed calories your body requires, you may gain more weight.

  • Eat Healthy and Natural Food

    You may know this already, but natural food actually contains less calories than processed foods that are ridden with sugar and other ingredients that can harm your body. For instance, if you love sweet food, eating a chocolate bar with a weight of 160 grams will give you at least 800 calories. However, if you switch to a banana dipped in some chocolate, you will get only around 200 calories! What’s better is this: if you just eat a fresh banana, you only consume 89 calories!

  • Workout at least 30 Minutes a Day or 3 Times a Week

    We see that most joggers at the park are usually fit. While we don’t know if they count their calories or not, merely exercising already burns calories. Give it a try! Go for a brisk walk outside before going to the office or park far from your building so you can key in a mini workout before and after work. Moving will burn more calories and increase your metabolism.

  • Drink More Water

    Water contains ZERO calories but it makes you feel fuller. Whenever you feel hunger pangs, drink water first. Sometimes you can mistake thirst for hunger.
